Students at Booker T. are able to improve grades, complete the college and scholarship application process, explore career opportunities, and talk if they simply need someone willing to listen – because they have the support of a compassionate group of volunteers. With the help of these mentors, they can benefit from everything their magnificent school has to offer, excelling in both arts and academics. And the Advisory Board can keep its promise to help every student at Booker T. succeed.
The Advisory Board also acts as a liaison to the arts community by creating real-life opportunities for our students to put their craft to work. We also bring in professionals to work with students and assist faculty on curriculum, equipment, and new technologies important for our students’ success. Part of enrichment is providing experiences. So we are creating an internship program where students can learn firsthand from Dallas’ most influential artists.
