Arts Magnet Advisory Board

LOOK OUT FOR ME

I may not be old enough to drive, but I've already written a symphony. I'm too young to vote, but my voice can carry through an 800-seat theatre. I've never set foot on a plane, but in my ballet shoes I can fly. I'm not allowed out past 10pm, but oh can I paint the night. I haven't been in love, but then again, I'm in love with the arts.

Welcome to the home of the Advisory Board for Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts (Arts Magnet Advisory Board).

The students of Booker T. are passionate young artists with limitless potential. Though they are all rich with talent, many have great financial need. We work behind the scenes to give students the opportunities passion cannot.

Since our establishment in 1976, we have raised funds for students to attend competitions, college auditions, and summer programs. We've been the financial backer for teachers to explore new programming and for the school to buy new instruments and art supplies. We've even created a mentorship program to help guide students one-on-one. And that's only the beginning; 2008 marked the completion of the capital campaign to renovate and triple the size of the school's historic facility, a $60 million-plus endeavor pioneered by the Advisory Board.

We budget. We plan. We believe. So the students can CREATE.
